Rapid Restoration of Critical Security Systems at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary

The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is a vital refuge providing care, safety, and rehabilitation for donkeys and other vulnerable animals.

To maintain the highest standards of protection, the sanctuary relies heavily on a robust CCTV infrastructure that enables the team to monitor activity across the site, day and night.  In early 2024, the sanctuary experienced a serious security incident that placed their operations and animal safety at risk.

The challenge

The sanctuary’s CCTV system suffered a significant security breach, leaving staff unable to access or manage their cameras. With surveillance down, the site lost its ability to, Monitor donkey welfare remotely, benefit form site wide security, respond quickly to emergencies, deter and track potential intruders or ensure full safeguarding of the animals. Their existing support provider was unable to offer timely assistance, and the complexity of the breach proved beyond their capability.

The sanctuary faced the prospect of prolonged downtime, something that was simply not an option given the nature of their work. Recognising the urgency, the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary reached out to Lifeline.

The Lifeline Solution

Lifeline responded immediately. Within 48 hours of the initial call, the team had firstly reinstated the entire CCTV system, with full restoration of access and functionality, removal of the compromised elements, recovery of system performance without loss of coverage.

Following this the Lifeline engineering team were able to implement new security protocols.

All critical work was completed in just an initial 8 hours on-site, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum speed of recovery.
