As you would expect from the pace setters, the team at Lifeline take all forms of security extremely seriously. We do not play at security, it is not an add on, or a pastime, this is our business, with decades of experience. That is why we are pleased to announce that under the expert guidance from ESID Consultants we have now been awarded the coveted Cyber Essentials Accreditation.
Over the last 10 years the world has seen a huge growth in cybercrime, something that has accelerated at this time of economic stress. According to the ONS (Office for National Statistics), there were 506,000 cases of unauthorised access to personal information in the UK (including hacking) in 2018 alone. Those are just the cases that were reported to the police! These numbers are only rising as we become more and more reliant on technology within our organisations. UK organisations are said to be experiencing more than 65,000 cyber-attacks each day. Much emphasis has been placed on securing personal and confidential data. In May 2018 all organisations in the EU were required to comply with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations).
Cyber Essentials is a UK government information/data assurance scheme operated by the National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ) to encourage organisations to adopt good practices surrounding data security. It is designed to reduce data breaches and cyber threat by up to 80%, improve processes, improve efficiency and improve client confidence.
With businesses gathering more data every day, the integrity and security of data is even more essential when it comes to customers Fire & Security Systems. At Lifeline, we want to demonstrate to our customers that we not only look after their physical security, but also the data that supports those systems. Media and industry reports show that Cyber-attacks, scams and data breaches are unfortunately becoming more coming place
We are delighted that the Lifeline customer family can be assured that we are looking after their data in the best possible way and at all times. Yet another differentiator between Lifeline and others. Lifeline is the first and only Island based fire and security company to hold this accreditation. Even though we have always had robust systems in place, we can now demonstrate this with third party independently accredited certification, something which places us in an elite group and gives all our clients further peace of mind. This is in addition to our holding NSI Gold status, BAFE Approval for Fire Alarm Design, ISO9001 and now Cyber Essentials. As a business, Lifeline hold amongst the most comprehensive accreditation port folios in the UK, let alone the Isle of Wight.
Of course, this is just the start. Our continuous improvement policy means that we will be ever investing in processes, systems and policies.
